Football Booster Gave Methylene Blue to Athletes
Mercer – The Mercer High School Football Booster President could be facing criminal charges for providing players with a substance meant to enhance their athletic ability. Mike Davis could be charged with reckless endangerment for providing more than a dozen student athletes with methylene blue while they were in the locker room before a game against Reynolds High School. The substance is intended to enhance oxygen levels in blood and is being blamed for causing several players to become sick during the game; it is known to cause nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, and to have negative reactions with some medications. Davis has been banned from all Mercer Area School District property and events.
Speed Limit Reductions in Meadville
Meadville – Starting on Friday, the City of Meadville will be lowering speed limits on several residential streets to better comply with state laws. Speed limits will be reduced from 35 to 25 miles per hour on Azalea, Arch, Grove, Pine, Randolph, South Main, and Terrace Streets. Speed limits will also be reduced on Limber Road from North Main Street to the city edge and on Lincoln Avenue. Public Works Crews will be changing speed signs for the next few weeks.
Three Burglaries in Same Area
Corry – The Pennsylvania State Police is investigating a string of burglaries on Stewart Road in Erie County’s Concord Township. On September 2nd and 3rd, at least three homes were reported burglarized along Stewart Road. In each case, power and hand tools were stolen from the residents; two homes reported burglaries at 9:15 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the 2nd, and the third reported the burglary at 11 a.m. on the 3rd. Feds Seek WPA Man
Pittsburgh – In State News, the FBI is searching Western PA for a Penn Hills man named Donald Henson. According to the FBI, Henson deliberately crashed a vehicle into the gate of their Pittsburgh office in what is being called a targeted terror attack. FBI Assistant Special Agent Christopher Giordano says that at about 2:40 a.m. this morning, Henson crashed a vehicle into the gate and then left the scene on foot. Before walking away, Henson shouted something incomprehensible to witnesses and draped an American flag on the gate. Nobody was injured by the crash.
