Judge Rules Man Incompetent to Stand Trial
Mercer – A judge determined that a man who led police on a chase through Mercer County is incompetent to stand trial. In May, Timothy Hartey led police on a 28-mile-long pursuit through several towns, including Sharon, Brookfield, Hermitage, and Farrell, and involved police officers from six departments. The chase ended when Hartey abruptly stopped in the middle of an intersection in Farrell. He will be placed in an inpatient mental health facility while his case is suspended pending further review by the court.

Meadville Reduced Speed Limits
Meadville – The City of Meadville has lowered speed limits on several residential streets today to better comply with state laws. Speed limits have been reduced from 35 to 25 miles per hour on Azalea, Arch, Grove, Pine, Randolph, South Main, and Terrace Streets. Speed limits are also reduced on Limber Road from North Main Street to the city edge and on Lincoln Avenue. Public Works Crews will be changing speed signs for the next few weeks.
The change in speed limits puts Meadville in compliance with state law, which stipulates that residential streets must have speed limits no higher than 25 miles per hour. Primarily commercial streets, such as Park Avenue, are unaffected.

Parent Pulls Gun On School Children
Erie – Police presence at East Middle School in Erie will be heightened today after authorities say that a parent brandished a gun during an altercation as school was being let out. According to Erie’s Public Schools, one person was taken into custody by the Erie Police Department after they wielded a firearm on Thursday afternoon. During dismissal from school, two students began to argue, which turned into a fight. A parent who intervened in the altercation allegedly brandished a gun, requiring police to respond.

Stolen Motorcycle
Meadville – The Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a stolen motorcycle in Crawford County. The bike is a KP Mini 150 with a blue frame and black seat, PA registration number 22AC4. According to the Pennsylvania State Police, it was reported stolen from the driveway of a home on Meadowland Drive outside of Meadville last Friday at about 11:30 in the morning.
