Woman Drives U-Haul with Man Trapped in Back
Emlenton – A Florida woman has been charged with crimes in Pennsylvania after the Pennsylvania State Police say she drove through Venango and Clarion Counties with a man trapped in the back of a U-Haul. Lisa Carter of Frostproof Florida, was charged with reckless endangerment and false imprisonment after her arrest last Thursday. According to police, the 55-year-old drove a rented moving truck at highway speeds along Interstate 80 for about 18 miles from Emlenton to a location in Clarion County while a man named Ronald Montesso Jr was trapped inside with the rear hatch hanging partially open; in fear for his life, he called 9-1-1.
Carter allegedly admitted to knowing Mr. Montesso was in the back of the partially open truck, but drove onto the highway anyway. She says she tried to open the hatch to let him out, but the mechanism became stuck and she couldn’t open it. She was scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday, but it was rescheduled for early October.

Three Injured in School Stabbing
Pittsburgh – In State News, three students at a Pittsburgh-area high school were injured during a stabbing on Wednesday morning. One young man is hospitalized in critical condition at Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh after being stabbed in the abdomen at Carrick High School; two other students who tried to intervene suffered lesser, but still serious, injuries. 16-year-old Anthony Taulton is the alleged stabber and is in police custody; he claims he was defending himself from another student who continually threatened him.
