Body of Train Victim ID’d
Erie – In Erie County, authorities are attempting to locate the family of a man killed by a train on Wednesday. The man was identified using fingerprints as 33-year-old Christian Long, a vagrant with no known address. Christian died on Wednesday evening, just before 6:30, when he walked in front of a Westbound train near Cascade Street. The Erie County Coroner’s Office is attempting to locate a member of Christian’s family to take possession of his remains. Call (814)453-2911 if you can help.

Rental Scam in Crawford County
Meadville – Police are investigating a rental scam in Crawford County.  The Pennsylvania State Police says that a 33-year-old Saegertown woman paid what she thought was a deposit on a two-bedroom apartment on Route 6/19 outside of Meadville on Saturday, the 13th, after which the person she paid vanished and could no longer be contacted. The apartment is listed for rent at different prices on several websites, while others have it as unavailable; the PSP Meadville is investigating.

Suspect Arrested in Farrell Homicide
Farrell – A suspect was arrested for the early Sunday morning murder of Brandon Smith in Farrell. 34-year-old Michael Cox of New Castle turned himself in to the police on Thursday after being identified by multiple witnesses as the shooter who killed the youth football coach during an argument outside Yank’s Place. Cox is now lodged in Mercer County Jail without bond on charges of criminal homicide, aggravated assault, carrying a concealed firearm without a license, and risking a catastrophe.

Man Charged in Hotel Robberies
Erie – An Erie man named Maurice Bush has been charged with crimes related to the robberies of two hotels within the city. Bush is being held in Erie County jail on charges of felony robbery and other crimes. Police say that he entered the Cobblestone Inn at about 4 a.m. on Monday morning and attempted a robbery, and that he successfully robbed Red Roof Inn in the early morning hours of Tuesday. Both times, he passed threatening notes to the hotel receptionists, demanding any cash being held by the hotel. Bush was arrested shortly after the second robbery.
