PSP Recruitment Changes
Hershey – Requirements for joining the Pennsylvania State Police are changing ever so slightly. Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and State Police Commissioner Christopher Paris have announced that a college credit requirement will soon be removed as a barrier to potential candidates in the near future. The current requirements for candidates to qualify for the Pennsylvania State Police include 60 college credits, but that requirement will be waived for the next round of recruitment on a trial basis. According to Commissioner Paris, “Filling the ranks of the Pennsylvania State Police with women and men dedicated to serving the people of Pennsylvania is of utmost importance. The elimination of the college credit requirement will open the door to a rewarding career for many who would make exemplary troopers but would not have otherwise had the opportunity.”
