Scheduled Power Outage in Crawford County
Meadville – Penelec has announced a planned power outage for portions of downtown Meadville on Saturday morning. According to Penelec the outage will last from about 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning while technicians perform some facility upgrades. The outage will affect customers in the vicinity of Park Ave, Linden St, Market St, Elm St, Chula Ct, Autumn Dr, Poplar St, Willow St, Water St, Marion Alley, Arch St, McHenry St, Arterial Hwy (French Creek Pkwy.), S. Cottage St, and Hemlock St. Evon Kardosh, Meadville’s Deputy Fire Chief and EMS Coordinator, urges any residents that rely on electrically powered medical equipment to be sure to charge their devices before the outage.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day Vigil
Meadville – Veterans of the Vietnam War Post 52 will host a vigil for all Pennsylvanians listed as Prisoners of War or Missing in Action tonight at Diamond Park in Meadville. The vigil is from 6 o’clock tonight until midnight with a candle lighting ceremony beginning at 8 and then a reading of the names for all POW/MIA Pennsylvanians throughout all US conflicts. The solemn ceremony is part of National POW/MIA Recognition Day, scheduled annually on the third Friday in September. Many similar events will be happening in towns and cities across the nation.
