State Police in Lawrence County report a hit and run accident in North Beaver Township.  According to police 28 year old Jamiee Luyster of Enon Valley was stopped at the intersection of Columbiana Road and StateLine Road, when her car was struck from behind by another vehicle. The driver continued to make contact with Luyster’s vehicle and fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

 Police in Grove City say they have charged a sixteen-year-old local boy accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. WFMJ-TV reports, the teen faces charges in juvenile court including rape, sexual assault, and indecent assault. The alleged incident took place back in 2019.

Shell’s new petrochemical plant in Beaver County has received a notice of violation from state officials.  The plant became fully functional just last month but on Wednesday was cited for violating emission standards that had been previously agreed to by the company and the state.  Shell acknowledges the findings and says that they were attributable to the process of bringing the facility online.

KDKA-TV is reporting firefighters were at the scene of a fire in Ellwood City overnight. Flames ripped through the Dog Gone Bar and Grill along First Street in Ellwood City just after midight. Part of the building was completely burned out. The business was closed at the time of the fire,  no one was hurt. The cause of the fire is under investigation. 

Police in Butler County arrested a Valencia man following an incident that took place on Sandy Hill road. 33 year old Chad Vogel was charged with strangulation and simple assault. Vogel was placed in the Butler County Jail.

No injuries were reported following a vehicle fire in Lawrence County.  According to State Police, a Chevrolet Malibu caught fire Friday morning in Perry Township.Police said that the driver and a passenger were able to exit the vehicle without injury. The cause of the fire was not immediately released.  No other vehicles were involved.

Pennsylvania is placed among the states with the most “Christmas Spirit”.  A recent survey by Get-Century-Link-dot-com lists the Keystone State at number five when it comes to holiday excitement.  The company says the rankings were based on Christmas-themed online activity over the last year, like shopping for wrapping paper or streaming holiday movies and music.  New Hampshire tops the list for the second consecutive year, with Wisconsin, Utah, and West Virginia joining Pennsylvania in the top five.

Pennsylvania’s unemployment numbers for November were released on Friday showing that unemployment is keeping pace with its record low set in October. The rate for November is 4%. That’s 1.5% below it’s November 2021 rate. The national unemployment rate also held steady at 3.7%, and was 0.5% lower than the previous year.  From April 2020 to November 2022, Pennsylvania has recovered about 93.5% of the jobs lost during the first two months of the pandemic.

Outgoing Pennsylvania Senator Pat Toomey is preparing to pass the office to John Fetterman.  Speaking on CNN’s State of the Union, Toomey said he spent the vast majority of his time and effort focused on defending the interests of Pennsylvania, and expanding economic freedom.  He acknowledged that he’s “gone against the grain” of the majority of the Republican party by breaking ties with former President Trump.  He told the interviewer that his criticisms of Trump tend to get more attention than his other bipartisan work.  When asked if he had any advice for the incoming Fetterman, Toomey said to listen to constituents and take advantage of the proximity to the Capitol.

Just in time for Christmas. Tonight’s Powerball Jackpot is up to 158 million dollars and tomorrow night’s Mega Millions Jackpot is now up to 469 million dollars. Both drawings are held at 11pm.
